Pedals, Pipes & Pizza

Pedals, Pipes & Pizza (PPP) is a hands-on experience for young musicians (5th grade and older with some piano experience) to acquaint them with the organ. Every student will have the opportunity to play pipe organs at First Congregational Church, First Lutheran Church, and get to actually build a small pipe organ! This year's PPP will be in conjunction with the SDAGO Academy Auditions and Recital. This will allow students to have an opportunity to hear beginner organists perform at the culmination of their Academy experience.
Registration fee is $5 - includes materials and pizza. Payment can be made at the event.

What We'll Do...
Saturday Saturday April, 22 2023
- The PPP Faculty - Several professional organists from the area who get to play pipe organs for a living.
- The Orgelkids Kit organ - An instrument specially created to help us learn more about how the pipe organ works.
- You! - and a bunch of other students who, like you, are interested in this crazy, mysterious, and wonderful musical instrument.
What We'll Do...
- We'll listen - to people describing how the organ works, and to people making music on the organ.
- We'll look - at the insides of organs and find out what you don't see when you're on the outside listening.
- We'll build - yes... we'll build a pipe organ together!
- We'll travel - to First Congregational and First Methodist to see their pipe organs.
- We'll play - everybody will get a chance for some hands-on time on all the organs we visit.
- We'll eat - some pizza at lunchtime and talk about what we've learned!

- 10:00 Introduction to the organ led by PPP Faculty
